Honda Odyssey - 8743 km - Tighten Fuel Cap...AGAIN?!

UPDATE: 2007-06-19 - 8784 km - The light finally went out this afternoon.

Original Post:

This is the THIRD time that the Tighten Fuel Cap error message has appeared in our 2006 Honda Odyssey. Just like the the second time it happened, the message appeared after work, but unlike the second time, it didn't go away with the next start-up. It's getting frustrating because this is the second tank of gas in a row where the tighten fuel cap message appeared. I'm starting to think it may be more a problem other than "user error" but I'm reluctant to go to the dealership just for that.

At the same time, with our road trip coming up, I don't want to have to deal with this problem mid-vacation. I'm almost tempted just to buy a new gas cap myself to see if it will cure the problem. But I hate paying money for something that should be covered under warranty!

What would you do if you were me?

  1. That's annoying. I'd probably buy a new gas cap. Saves wasting valuable time at the dealer, assuming a faulty cap is the problem.
